Initial meeting

This is the information stage. We need to understand your dream. To do this we need to know what requirements make up this dream; the more information the better. This initial meeting is to create what’s called a Design Brief. A quotation will be drafted and sent after this meeting.

Feasibility/ Concept Design

Once VRD have been engaged, to carry out the feasibility and preliminary design, we will require your completed Design Brief and a full survey. VRD will arrange a visit to site, to assess the existing conditions of the site, make any notes and take any photos necessary. With all this information we can prepare an initial design concept for you.

Design Development

In this stage we refine and change the concept design to reflect your input of the previous stage. We will then present this as a final sketch.

Development Lodgement/ Approval

This stage is about producing and collating all the required documents for a submission, and then deliver them to the relevant authority for building approval.

Tender Process

There are two levels of documentation, and they are outlined in the quotation. They are Development Approval compliant and Working Drawing/ Construction Drawing level. VRD Design can assist with finding builders and are happy to work with any client suggestions.

The Development Approval level, is the minimum requirement for both approvals and construction. This is the standard level of documentation provided by VRD Design.

Working Drawing/ Construction Drawing level requires more detailed drawings, and therefore more billable time. Extra drawings may include, but not limited to, electrical plans, wet area detailing, joinery detailing and flooring notes.

Contract Administration/ Project Management

VRD Design can undertake the ‘Full Service’, which is to take on the challenge of being your agent in dealing with the tender and build process. We will review and compare all tenders for cost, time and quality. We will then manage the construction process to make sure that the builder and any other contractors stay on schedule and budget. We will keep you abreast of all developments and keep you involved in any decision making along the way.

We will carry out inspections regularly along the way, and more importantly, make the final inspection to insure that the final build is everything you thought it would be. This will mark completion, and then it’s over to you.
